Sabbath Music - Scarlet Purple Robe

This week, we attended the funeral of my cousin, Frances.  She had leukemia and had fought a year-long battle against the disease.  Her last week of life was spent at home with her husband and close family and friends.  She had just turned fifty years old on August 9.

I was a teenager when Frances was born, and I used to babysit her and change her diapers rock her, and sing to her.  She was like my baby for the two years her family lived next door to my parents.  I can still see her in my mind, toddling around the yard.  She had the prettiest ivory skin and auburn red hair.  Our pet name for her was Skipper.  Daddy called her Droopy Drawers because her diaper was always hanging down.  That name stuck for years.

Frances grew up to be a loving, caring sweet-natured woman and became a CNA.  She worked at a nursing home and was a blessing to those in her care.  She helped everybody and anybody who needed it.  I have only good memories of her and I will miss her terribly.  Please say a prayer for her husband and family and for me.  It will not be easy to live without her loving, caring spirit and her bright smile.

It's hard to lose someone you love, and it's disconcerting when that person is much younger than you.  We have had other deaths of friends over the last few months, as well as reports from other friends and family who are battling cancer.  It's been a summer full of tears.

As we gathered together for her burial, I was so thankful to have my Heavenly Father to carry my burdens during times like these, and especially thankful that I have the blessed hope of seeing my sweet cousin again one day.  As we left the graveyard, I noticed this statue:

I've been to this cemetery many times before because my parents and many of my relatives are buried there.  I'd never noticed this statue, though.  It reminded me that G-d's angels watch over us, not just in hard times, but every day.  It is a comforting thought.

Frances loved and believed in Yeshua the Messiah, and she loved people.  This was her favorite song, and it was played at her funeral. Scarlet Purple Robe by Ralph Stanley
I hope you enjoy the song, Gail-Friends, and I hope you have a blessed Sabbath.
