Thankful Thursday - A Mother's Prayers

Do you have a mother who prays for you?  Then you have a gift that is more valuable than anything money can buy.  I'm so thankful that my daughters ask me to pray for them.  They know it will happen because I'll do it right then.

This framed picture sits near where I pray.  I look at it to reinforce how powerful prayer is.  If you look closely, you can see the spiritual warfare going on in the images outside the window.  Not sure you can see it clearly, but it of a dark figure fighting against a white figure.  You can also see the cross in the panes of the glass.  This reminds me of the power of the blood and name of Yeshua when I call on Him.

I've been keeping a prayer journal for my children for almost fifty years.  I love going back and reading the many, many prayers that have been answered.  The two most important ones were for them to be conceived and "born," since I miscarried my first child.  I prayed for four years to conceive my first daughter, and then six years for my second.

I prayed for their future husbands while they were little girls.  G-d answered those prayers by giving them wonderful men.  Those two fine men are a part of my daily prayers, too.

I'm thankful, too, for those who've prayed for me.  The praying mothers and grandmothers in my past have brought me uncountable blessings I know.  I've felt those prayers many times.

This song crossed my path recently, and I hope you will listen, and follow the words.  If you have a mother or grandmother who prays, don't take them for granted.  They are doing spiritual warfare for you, my friends.  One day, the mothers and grandmothers in your life will pass on, and you'll feel the void.  Cherish them while you can.

Momma would pray, at night by her bedside.
She'd call out to Jesus, in a voice so sincere:
Watch over my children, and show them your mercy
Don't let 'em be alone, in this old world down here

Chorus: A mother's prayer, more precious than diamonds
A mother's prayer, more precious than gold
There's nothing on earth that could compare,
I can still see her kneeling there
Thank God for the power, of a mother's prayer

With tears in my eyes, in the darkest of hours,
I cried alone, don't take her from me.
Then she took my hand, said, son I'm ready
Said the sweetest prayer, then she went off to sleep

 Repeat Chorus:

Then I had a dream, I stood before Jesus.
Saw the Book of Life, and my name was in there.
Lord, Ive done so much wrong, and I don't deserve mercy
He said, there's something about, your mother's prayer

Repeat Chorus

  2. I think that is such a great idea to have a prayer journal. It would be so neat to look, and read back on all the prayers that were said! I love this idea. That is so amazing that you have been doing this for almost 50 years! Your children are so lucky & blessed to have you in their lives.

  5. Incredible that you've kept this journal for such a long time!
We all need a prayer warrior. I have a sweet mother-figure friend that I call with pressing prayer requests.
I enjoyed the song; thanks for sharing!

  6. What a blessing that you have a mother-figure friend. I've had several of those who have impacted my life.

Yes, Ruth, we all need a prayer warrior. I believe when someone comes on our heart, it's our cue to pray for them.

    Blessings and come back soon.

  7. I pray for my children everyday although I have not kept a prayer journal. I wish I had. I also pray for my grandchildren and parents. My husband and I always pray at dinner for our family and all the members.
I agree that prayer is powerful. When we look back, we need to see all the miracles that have occurred and sometimes it is all of the little things that have happen and we sometimes take them for granted.
I hope you will stop by Over The Moon Linky Party later today since you are being featured.
    Hugs,

  8. Bev, first a big thank you for featuring me on the link party.

I'm glad to hear that you are such a praying woman. And, yes, it's so very easy to forget all He's done for us down through the years. Any time my faith grows weak, all I have to do is look back through my journals, and my faith is encouraged.

Thank you for your comments today, and for your encouragement.

    Blessings,
    GG
