31 Days of Garden Tours - Day 2

Continuing the tour I shared in yesterday's post.  This is part of the Secret Garden Tour in Titusville/Mims.

As we left the pond area, here are the views as we headed out toward the vegetable garden.

Isn't this huge stag-horn fern amazing?  I love her use of statues and birdbaths throughout the garden.   The aqua-colored roof is the first glimpse of the potting shed.  The winding path will take us there.

This sign was enlightening.  Just beyond is the potting shed and vegetable garden.

Wouldn't you love to have such a potting shed?  I love the sunny yellow paint.

This is the gate that leads to the vegetable garden. We couldn't go in, of course, but enjoyed seeing such a lush and thriving garden.  Growing vegies in Florida is a real challenge.

Such a whimsical, inviting entrance.

Here is the vegetable garden.  I like the statue, and the fake owls.  They're supposed to work like scarecrows to keep birds out.  It must work, from the look of the crops.

Do you see that rich, black soil?  Trust me, that is not "Florida" soil.  Florida soil is pure sand.  There lies the secret to their lush vegetable patch -- enriched with good dirt, and probably some cow manure, too.  My husband and I have really worked on our soil, but it doesn't look this rich.  All I can say is, "Wow"?

There is still much more to see in this garden.  Come back tomorrow to see the tiki hut and outdoor kitchen area.

Blessings to you!

31 Days of Garden Tours - Day 1

Greetings, Gail-Friends.  I'm excited about this series of posts.  I've visited several gardens, but hadn't gotten around to posting about them.  So, I'm glad you're here, and I hope you'll stop by every day in October to see the beauty I've planned for you.

The first tour is the Secret Garden Tour which was in the spring, in Titusville / Mims, Florida.

First stop was a delight, and the pond area is the first thing we saw as we entered the gate. This garden is huge and varied, so I'll be taking my time to show you each section.

These happy, brightly colored Adirondack chairs greeted us as we entered the gate. My friend, Betty, is the joyful lady on the far left.  We had so much fun that day.

The lovely owner of the home and garden, was so kind and gracious, answering the many questions of her guests.  She said when she designed this area, she wanted to feel as if she were on a cruise vacation.  It has that relaxed and comfortable feel, don't you think?

Don't you wish you were here, enjoying the shade and the koi pond?  There's a little bridge over the pond, and a waterfall beyond.

Here is another view of the pond area, with the waterfall.

Her resident frog enjoyed the sunshine, and I think he was very interested in the visitors, too.

There is much more to see in this backyard, so be sure to stop back by tomorrow to see the vegetable garden.  The potting shed will make you drool.

Blessings to you!
