So Much Has Changed

I am so burdened by what I see happening in society today.  The following article by Nancy Campbell touched me deeply.  The piece is used with her permission, and I highly recommend her blog as well as  her books.

Please read this piece and take the time to ponder her words.  I hope you'll also share it with others.

Within the next week, I'll write a post about what G-d has been laying on my heart about this subject.

Blessings to you, dear Gail-Friends.

ARE WE DEGENERATING?

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see,

and ask for the old paths, where is the good way,

and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls”

(Jeremiah 6:15).

What I share with you now may seem archaic, even unbelievable in this society in which we live. However, it reveals how the bar of God's standard continues to lower in every generation.

I grew up as a child never entering a movie theater. It was considered evil. My mother, who has since passed away, never went into a movie theater in her life. Nor did my husband's mother! When I was older and began to go to a "good" movie, I remember saying to my mother, "Mother, you could come and see this movie. It is totally wholesome." But she replied, "Oh no, the Lord might come while I am there!" And she wouldn't want to be found in a movie theater if the Lord came for her!

But of course, when television came in, all standards went out the door. Now, many Christians receive into their homes all the filth and rubbish of the world. They watch adultery and fornication—and worse, without batting an eye! Many Christians go off to every new movie that comes without any discretion! No wonder we don't see the power of God moving in our midst today. We are a lukewarm people—overcome with mediocrity, complacency, ordinariness, passivity, and middle-of-the-road blindness!

What about church? When I was a young girl, we worshipped together as a family in the morning. We would never think of missing church—rain, hail or snow! Never any excuses! We were committed to the faithful g Hebrews 10:24). We came home for lunch and then we children walked back for Sunday School in the afternoon (a couple of miles). Then we attended the Sunday evening service.

Next generation . . . instead of three times a day, we got down to two services—morning and evening church. Now, we are down to one service in the morning, and that's it! Help, with so many Christian families no longer committed the gathering of God’s people every week, will we even have one service in the next generation?

What about family life? We have so many wonderful godly families in the nation who are raising godly children. And yet sadly, across Christendom, many families have the mindset of the world. They have limited their families to two children. They are so excited when they have their son and daughter, and think, that’s it! The current average number of children per family in USA is 1.9 per family and that’s among Christians as well as the secular world.

I remember talking to an elderly gentleman on one of my flights. He told me that his father came from a family of ten children, and he came from a family of six. “How many children did you have?” I asked. “Two,” he replied. Very typical. Ten, six, two! Every generation has less children. Degeneration. Falling away from God’s original plan and purpose for mankind. We have become victims of a humanistic society. The blind leading the blind into the ditch!

It used to be normal to sit together as a family to eat meals. To communicate with one another. In our busy lifestyles today many families don’t even sit around the table to eat together! If they do, they bring their iPhones to the table! They don’t even communicate face to face. Now that really is degeneration!

Perhaps the statement is true: “Each generation is one generation away from degeneration.” In the midst of lethargy, tolerance of sin, and deception, let's keep seeking after God and His truth with all our hearts.

Dear mother, you are the transmitter of God’s truth and His ways to the next generation. If the next generation forget God’s ways, it is the mothers who are to blame! Wow. That’s a load. But it’s true. God has given us the powerful responsibility to communicate His ways to our children, our grandchildren, and the next generation.

I am always challenged by Isaiah 59:21 (HCSB): “As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says the LORD: ‘My Spirit who is on you, and My words that I have it in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouth of your children, or from the mouth of your children’s children, from now on and forever,’ says the LORD.’”

We must do more than getting into their hearts. We must get it into their mouths so that keeps coming forth out of their mouths to each succeeding generation.

Time To Say No

Dear Gail-Friends:

Nancy Campbell is a mentor to me and scores of other women.  This is her most recent email devotional.  It's so important.  Please share it.  She has given me permission to share her writings with others.  I recommend her website and her podcast.  I pray for her mantle to fall on each of us.  We were born for such a time as this - to stand strong against the evil one's plans to steal, kill, and destroy.

June 02, 2022
Dear Gail,

This is the latest Women's Devotional.
Time To Say No

“Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather reprove them”
(Ephesians 5:11).

The devil wants our children. He will take the souls, minds, and hearts of our children if we let him. He wants to take them down his road of destruction. We cannot give him an inch, or he takes a mile. We must be fierce guarders!

Because the devil hates everything that God loves and planned for His creation, he robs women of their God-given home and mothering by wooing them into their careers. He robs children of being raised in the home which is their inheritance. He robs families of children that God has eternally destined for them by contraception, sterilization, and abortion. He robs marriages through pornography and adultery. He robs our silver and gold by tempting us to spend it on wasted material pleasures instead of God’s kingdom.

We see an example in the life of King Ahab in 1 Kings 20:2, 3. Ben-Hadad, king of Syria sent messengers to king Ahab of Israel: “Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.”

How dare he take ownership! They did not belong to him.

But what did king Ahab answer? “My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.” He even stated: “I denied him not” (1 Kings 20: 4, 7). Can you believe it? Because of the fear of man, or because he didn’t have the courage to stand up against king Ben-Hadad, he surrendered to him. He gave up everything that was most precious to him.

How sad to read such a testimony? And yet we can so easily get caught. God gives us our children to raise for Him and for God’s destiny. And yet we give them to daycares and hand them over to the state education system.

Somehow, even some Christian parents don’t mind that their children are taught that Islam is a peaceful religion (while we watch Islamic terror on TV). Many children in state schools have been asked to draw posters of the Five Pillars of Islam and pictures of the Prophet Muhammad, sing Islamic songs, wear Islamic clothes, construct a 3-D model of a mosque, design an Islamic prayer rug, and do calligraphy for “There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet.” Yes, this is in American schools.

They don’t seem to mind that their children are openly taught about alternative lifestyles and that transgenderism is a choice for them. They may even be ignorant that the gay agenda now pushes their lifestyle in our state schools through books and curriculums (even on-line school). One of their latest books available to schools is “It’s Perfectly Normal” which contains material so sexually explicit that, according to the American Life League, it has been ruled inappropriate for prisoners by a Washington State court. Did you know that Ontario (Canada) passed a bill where children could be taken from the parents if they oppose their wanting to change their gender?

Some parents don’t mind that their children are taught that abortion is a woman’s right. They don’t seem to mind that their children are brainwashed in socialism.
Let’s not give in like Ahab. Let’s have the courage to rise up and say No to the enemy! No to his robbing of all that God has given us.

Speak your confession out loud: “I will not give anything to the devil. He has no right over me. I am God’s possession. He has no right over my children, and I will not give him any authority over them. They are God’s possession, and I am their guardian.”
It’s time to say No.

Nancy Campbell

PRAYER:

“Dear Father God, please give me courage in this hour. Please save me from handing over my children to the devil’s plans. Help me to stand strong against liberalism and socialism and the lies and deception of the devil who wants to steal my children’s mind and hearts. Help me to guard them well. Amen.”

AFFIRMATION:

As a mother, I am on the guard against all deception and lies from the enemy. I say No to liberalism, socialism, progressivism and all plans steal my children from their God-given destiny.

Reflections of a Mother

"Reflections Of A Mother"
(author unknown)

I gave you life,
but cannot live it for you..
I can give you directions,
but I cannot be there to lead you..
I can take you to church,
but I cannot make you believe..
I can teach you right from wrong,
but I cannot always decide for you..
I can buy you beautiful clothes,
but I cannot make you beautiful inside..
I can offer you advice,
but I cannot accept it for you..
I can give you love,
but I cannot force it upon you..
I can teach you to share,
but I cannot make you unselfish.
I can teach you respect,
but I cannot force you to show honor..
I can advise you about friends,
but cannot choose them for you..
I can advise you about sex,
but I cannot keep you pure..
I can tell you about alcohol & drugs,
but I can't say "No" for you..
I can tell you about lofty goals,
but I can't achieve them for you..
I can teach you about kindness,
but I can't force you to be gracious
I can pray for you,
but I cannot make you walk with God...
I can tell you how to live,
but I cannot give you eternal life.
I can love you with unconditional love all of
my life... and I will...
All the days of my life..

A Great Resource for Women

I recommend this resource for all women - young, old, single, married, mothers, and those without children also.

God has given us a mandate to teach the younger women -- and there's always someone younger than you, right?  I am always encouraged by Nancy's writing.  I hope you will take God's mandate to heart and share God's Word with the women around you.

Are You Zealous?

When I was growing up, my girl friends and I would talk about what we wanted to be when we grew up.  Some wanted to be nurses, some ballerinas . . . but I only wanted to be a mother. When I was about five years old, I remember asking my mama one day, "Mama, can you have a baby without being married?"

She said, "Yes, but why?"

I said, "Well, that's what I want to do because I don't ever want to get married."

In my little girl way, I was expressing my desire to be a mother.  I wanted a baby - because I loved them so much.

Well, I did grow up to be a mother -- and I did get married first.  I prayed fervently for a baby, but it took four years of marriage before my first baby girl was born.  This was after I'd had a miscarriage the year before.  When I lost that baby, my heart was broken.  But, praise God, He blessed me with a healthy, beautiful girl.  She was my dream come true.

I wanted more children and prayed fervently again -- but it was six, long years before my second baby girl came.  I wanted more babies, but it was not to be.  I was, and am, so grateful for the two blessings God gave me.

Books were my passion while my girls were growing up.  I read everything I could get my hands on in order to learn how to be a good mother.  I watched other mothers and tried to emulate them.  I was passionate and I was zealous about teaching them God's Word.

Both of my daughters are now adults, and I have two grandchildren.  While my parenting role has changed and I have made many mistakes along the way,  I remain zealous in my desire to be a good, godly mother . . . according to God's standard - not the world's.  Part of my role now is to be zealous in prayer for the loved ones God has given me.  I will not be complacent in this role.  God's word is my guiding light as I walk out my remaining days.  Do my actions and words line up with His Word?  That's the key to being  a good mother in His eyes.  My prayer is to hear Him say, "Well done, My good and faithful servant" not "Depart from me you who practice lawlessness."

These thoughts were inspired by this post by Nancy Campbell on her Facebook page, Above Rubies:  (used by permission)

ZEALOUS MOTHERS

Some people allow themselves to get eaten up inside with bitterness, hurt, and jealousy etc. As mothers, we cannot allow these attitudes in our lives for they destroy us and our entire family. We must keep our spirits whole—pure, blameless, and continually forgiving.

However, there is one area where the Bible tells us we can get “eaten up” inside? Do you know what it is? John 2:17 says of Jesus: “The zeal of thine house hath EATEN ME UP.” In other words, He was consumed with zeal for the honor of God’s house. These words were spoken after Jesus made a whip and cleansed the temple. He drove out all the sheep and oxen, tipped over all the tables and money, and cried out: “Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise” (John 2:16).
He also cried out: “It is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves” (Matthew 21:13).

Your home is also God’s house if you have dedicated it to the Lord, which I am sure you have.

Therefore, we should have the same zeal Jesus had to protect our homes and families. We are faithful watchwomen who drive all evil out of our homes. Even if we upset everyone! We won’t be tipping over tables and throwing money everywhere, but we’ll be strong enough to take a stand against any evil that seeks to bring darkness into our homes.

We passionately keep our homes holy.

We have the zeal of the Lord about making our home a House of Prayer! If our homes are not homes of prayer, can we call them God’s homes? We plan our schedules around our daily prayer times with our family. We don’t hope it fits in. We make it fit in to our schedule. Or better still, we make our schedule fit around our highest priority, our daily family times of prayer and Bible reading.

Jesus Christ redeemed us to be “zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14). Building your home and family for God is a good work. Do it with zeal. Don’t do it halfheartedly, allowing other things to consume your mind and time. Embrace the great commission God has given to you and pour your heart into it.

Sometimes, some wonderful mothers become zealously involved in a specific interest outside their home and it consumes them. Now, instead of continuing to build up their marriage and their home, they pour their life into this vain emptiness that is temporary and has no eternal value. Their home lies destitute. They are building empty castles in the air instead of building their family.

May the blessings of God fall upon you, dear anointed, zealous, passionate mother.

God's Mandate for Older Women

**

Nancy Campbell's ministry of writing always touches and teaches me.  I love this post and hope it will be helpful to you my dear Gail-Friends.

GOD’S MANDATE FOR OLDER WOMEN
by Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies
(used by permission)

"It seems that many older women are not aware of the mandate God gives to them. Titus 2:3-5 tells us that the older women are to teach and show the way for the younger women.

These Scriptures are very specific about what we are to teach—to love their husbands and to submit to their husbands, to love their children, to be keepers at home, to be self-controlled, kind, and pure. It’s all to do with the home.

The sad thing is, that once their children have grown, many mothers move on to other things and other careers, forgetting that it’s not time to give up motherhood. It’s time to extend and enlarge our motherhood.

Now that the new Above Rubies is arriving to women, I often receive emails from woman who say: “Thank you so much for encouraging me in motherhood over the years, but now my children have grown, and I no longer need it.”

My heart grieves because we older mothers still need the message of Above Rubies (which is the message of Titus 2) as much as ever. If we don’t continue to walk in the truth of this message and continue teaching it to the younger generation, we fail our mandate from God. And we older mothers constantly need refresher courses. I am now in the great-grandmothering stage and yet I am still learning more about God’s ways for marriage and motherhood. There is always more to learn. And if we don’t keep learning, how can we teach the younger generations?

Do these mothers not care about the younger generation of mothers? And what about their own children? That’s an even greater responsibility, to teach and train them in God’s plan for marriage and the home.

But God’s word is even more definite. It goes on to say that if we older mothers do not fulfill our mandate that we blaspheme God’s Word. Oh wow. That’s a strong word, isn’t it? It’s not mine, it’s God’s.

Some other translations of the Bible use the words: slander, revile, malign, insult, dishonor, disgrace, discredit, bring shame, disrepute, reproach and shame. All powerful words too.

Oh for a powerful army of older women to rise up to show the way for the next generation."

Shalom and blessings to you all, Gail-Friends

A Mother's Legacy

Happy Mothers Day, Gail-Friends!

I'm so blessed to be a mother.  As a child, my only goal was to be married and have children.  I married young, at eighteen, and my heart's desire was to have five children. After three years, I became pregnant but lost that little one after only three months.  I conceived again, and one long and anxious year later, I was blessed with my first daughter. After six more barren years, my second daughter was born. I prayed long and diligently to conceive and bear my children, so both are my special gifts from G-d and I treasure them dearly.

Every year on Mothers Day, I remember the day when I first held them in my arms. (This was back in the day when you went to sleep and woke up with a bathed and powdered baby.)  Melissa looked like a little angel with her blond hair standing up around her head like a shiny halo.  Amanda, looked like an angry school teacher, squinting up at me.  We found out later that she was trying hard to focus and started wearing glasses at three years old.  Those two days I count as some of the happiest of my life.

My girls, their wonderful husbands, and my precious grandson have brought me an abundant and overflowing JOY!  Yes, there have been some challenges and tears along the way, but that's a part of life and motherhood, right?  In my heart, the good memories far outweigh the bad.

I found a lovely poem this week and wanted to share it with Y'all.  I believe it expresses the most valuable thing a mother can leave her children.

The Legacy

She could not give her children gold,
So she gave them faith to have and hold.

She could not give them royal birth...
A name renowned throughout the earth.
But she gave them seeds and garden spot
And shade trees when the sun was hot.

She could not give a silver spoon
Or servants waiting night and noon.
She gave them love and a listening ear
And told them God was always near.

She could not give them ocean trips
Aboard majestic sailing ships.
But she gave them books and quiet time,
Adventures found in prose and rhyme.

She could not give them worldly things
But what she gave was fit for kings.
For with her faith and books and sod,
She made each child aware of God.

by Alice Leedy Mason

Proverbs 31:28.... Her children arise up,
and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praiseth her.

What are your happiest memories of motherhood?  I'd love to hear about them.

I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Mothers Day, Gail-Friends.

Thankful Thursday - A Mother's Prayers

Do you have a mother who prays for you?  Then you have a gift that is more valuable than anything money can buy.  I'm so thankful that my daughters ask me to pray for them.  They know it will happen because I'll do it right then.

This framed picture sits near where I pray.  I look at it to reinforce how powerful prayer is.  If you look closely, you can see the spiritual warfare going on in the images outside the window.  Not sure you can see it clearly, but it of a dark figure fighting against a white figure.  You can also see the cross in the panes of the glass.  This reminds me of the power of the blood and name of Yeshua when I call on Him.

I've been keeping a prayer journal for my children for almost fifty years.  I love going back and reading the many, many prayers that have been answered.  The two most important ones were for them to be conceived and "born," since I miscarried my first child.  I prayed for four years to conceive my first daughter, and then six years for my second.

I prayed for their future husbands while they were little girls.  G-d answered those prayers by giving them wonderful men.  Those two fine men are a part of my daily prayers, too.

I'm thankful, too, for those who've prayed for me.  The praying mothers and grandmothers in my past have brought me uncountable blessings I know.  I've felt those prayers many times.

This song crossed my path recently, and I hope you will listen, and follow the words.  If you have a mother or grandmother who prays, don't take them for granted.  They are doing spiritual warfare for you, my friends.  One day, the mothers and grandmothers in your life will pass on, and you'll feel the void.  Cherish them while you can.

Momma would pray, at night by her bedside.
She'd call out to Jesus, in a voice so sincere:
Watch over my children, and show them your mercy
Don't let 'em be alone, in this old world down here

Chorus: A mother's prayer, more precious than diamonds
A mother's prayer, more precious than gold
There's nothing on earth that could compare,
 I can still see her kneeling there
Thank God for the power, of a mother's prayer

With tears in my eyes, in the darkest of hours,
 I cried alone, don't take her from me.
Then she took my hand, said, son I'm ready
 Said the sweetest prayer, then she went off to sleep

 Repeat Chorus:

Then I had a dream, I stood before Jesus.
Saw the Book of Life, and my name was in there.
Lord, Ive done so much wrong, and I don't deserve mercy
He said, there's something about, your mother's prayer

Repeat Chorus

You may be blessed by this post about prayer and motherhood:  Mother Crying Over the World
~~~
Do you have a prayer warrior in your life?  Do you keep a prayer journal for your children and grandchildren?  I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Wisdom Wednesdays - Mothers Won the War
My heart quickened when I read this.  I receive it and hope you'll pass it on.
MOTHERS WON THE WAR!
(This is a prophetic reading by Sharon White via Above Rubies Facebook page)
The old town church bell began to ring. There was heard a shout! It was a call throughout the land for Mothers everywhere to return home.
"The children need you,” came the cry.
"Your husbands need you," the preacher urged from the front church steps. "This nation needs a great Christian revival for Mothers to get back on the old fashioned path of being at home. This is your post. Stand by! Stand Fast! The country is in turmoil. There is misery and suffering everywhere. We need all the Mothers in the home. Dig in your heels and make your homes lighthouses of holiness and service. Don't let the enemy invade the hearts of our homes. Don't let the enemy get a foothold in or they will slowly erode and take away the godly home."
There was a cry of repentance and lamentation. There were tears of conviction and a softening of cold, worldly hearts which had been hardened by materialism, the seeking of money, and a life of seeking constant recreation. Work must be done in the home! A sense of joy, pride, and relief filled these mother’s minds.
There was heavenly work to do and they were coming from the byways and highways, back to their own homes. The Mother's place was being restored everywhere.
As the sun rose the next morning, there were mothers on their knees in prayer. They were reading their Bibles. They were making homemade breakfasts, doing the laundry, wearing aprons, and caring for all who entered their doors. They were soldiers for the HOME.
Every house had a Mother in her post in every community across this land. Every child in every
neighborhood had security and peace knowing that a loving, godly mother was always home. Their innocence was restored and protected.
Husbands were now known in the gates for their work in civic and church duty. They were no longer coming home to empty houses, or having to take on the extra task of Mother's work. They provided the living again. They served the community and took on church work. They had loving wives at home, who cared for their families and provided a place of rest.
All the prayers and Bible reading from the mothers infiltrated the lighthouses and brought holiness into the children's souls. Mothers trained up their children to do a mighty work for the Lord. Mother was always there to make nutritious meals, to keep the home pretty and clean, and to have the patience of a saint to care for her charges.
This revival of Mothers at Home affected the land and the nation. Godly children grew up with integrity and honor. They took political offices, held places of authority in both business and government, and their actions and lives turned the tides and won the war against the threat of ungodly ruin and sinful devastation.
The tide was turned. Mothers helped win the war because they heard the preacher's cry. They heard the bell from the town church which called all citizens to stand fast, to stand by, and to take action! The land was restored to order as all the mothers were called out of the world and back into their homes.
They sacrificed much, they sacrificed energy, money, and fulfillment. And by their actions of a mass exodus of Mothers back to their homes, these women restored a godly nation!
