Sabbath Music - Full Surrender

That sacred time of stillness is upon us.  He calls us to come aside, rest and turn our hearts toward Him.  Sometimes it is hard.  We are busy.  We have many reasons to keep going at full speed.  But when we surrender and obey His command, we find the JOY of obedience.

This poem spoke to my heart today during my devotions.  It's from Streams in the Desert, and I understand every portion.  G-d calls us to full surrender many times as we walk this road of life.  Each level of surrender teaches us more about Him, if we are willing.

Fearing to launch on "full surrender's" tide,
I asked the L-rd where would its waters glide
My little bark, "To troubled seas I dread?"
"Unto Myself," He said.

Weeping beside an open grave I stood,
In bitterness of soul I cried to G-d:
"Where leads this path of sorrow that I tread?"
"Unto Myself," He said.

Striving for souls, I loved the work too well;
Then disappointments came; I could not tell
The reason, till He said, "I am thine all;
Unto Myself I call."

Watching my heroes--those I loved the best--
I saw them fail; they could not stand the test,
Even by this the L-rd, through tears not few,
Unto Himself me drew.

Unto Himself! No earthly tongue can tell
The bliss I find, since in His heart I dwell;
The things that charmed me once seem all as naught;
Unto Himself I'm brought.

The American Prayer Initiative

My prayer, dear Gail-Friends, is that you will please consider joining the American Prayer Initiative.  I have prayed these prayers for the past 31 days and will continue to pray them going forward.   You can sign up at the link below, and have the prayers sent to you daily in your  e-mail box.
These prayers are non-denominational and non-partisan. I believe our country needs to turn back to G-d, and repentance is important in order for G-d to have mercy on us. We, as a people and as a country, have turned our backs on G-d. The country was founded by G-dly men on Biblical principles, and we have strayed from that in many ways...like taking prayer and Bible reading out of the schools.

At Ma'gen Da'vid Synagogue, we are printing these prayers and giving them to our congregation this Friday night at our Sabbath service.  We will also pray them together that night.  We will encourage our members to pray the prayers at home with their families daily up through the Presidential election on November 6, 2012.

Please prayerfully consider joining me in this prayer effort for our country.   I hope you will ask your synagogue, church, or Bible study group to join these prayers for America.
You can view all 31 days of  prayers at the American Prayer Initiative.
Blessings,

Gail

Pray for America - Day 1

 "It is impossible to govern the world without G-d and the Bible."  George Washington

My heart is so burdened for my country.  I believe we have strayed so very far from the foundations upon which our nation was built, and we currently are headed for a cliff of destruction.  Biblical values are disdained and have been completely cast aside by our citizens as well as our governing officials.  Our nation cannot continue to be blessed under these actions, and I am praying for repentance and revival in America.

Yesterday, I met a wonderful woman, Nancy Schulze, who is a part of the American Prayer Initiative.  Nancy, along with many other g-dly women such as Shirley Dobson of the National Day of Prayer and Focus on the Family and Penny Nancy of Concerned Women for America, started this effort because they share the same burden of concern for our country.    I have joined this initiative and  encourage you to join also.

The website is www.americanprayerinitiative.org where you may sign up to receive a daily e-mail reminder to pray.  There is also a page on Facebook.

I will be praying daily, and posting their prayer here along with some of my own thoughts and prayers.  I hope you will not only pray, but also encourage your church, synagogue, blog readers and everyone you know to pray for our beloved country.

Please join me in this prayer today:

This post is part of a 31 day series from the American Prayer Initiative
You can sign up at the link and have the prayers sent to you daily in your

up through the general election on November 6, 2012.
