Thankful Thursday - Ten Golden Years

On Friday, we'll celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary.  Actually, we'll celebrate all week long (because that's how we do it).  I'll share with you about our celebration later.

I'm so thankful for my sweet husband and for the past ten years.  G-d put us together, and he has been a wonderful husband and friend.  I'm also grateful to have my own personal rabbi.  What a blessing to have a husband who is a mentor, a teacher, a counselor, and a living example of how to obey the Torah!

Before we married, I'd read the passage in I Corinthians 13 and think that nobody could ever do all that.  Well, Gail-Friends, he does all that and more.  He is consistently loving twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  Even more, he is a role model for me and every person with whom he comes in contact.  He's good with children, teenagers, and old people, too.

He's hilariously funny and makes me laugh every day.  A member of our congregation asked me if he's always so jovial.  I laughed and said, "This is his serious side."  Everything that happens is fodder for the jokes he makes up.

Here's a picture of him during his Navy days, which is when we met, over forty years ago.

And here we are on our wedding day, ten years ago.

We're fond of saying that we were like the Jews who wandered through the desert for forty years before we found the promised land (each other).  How G-d brought us together is a beautiful story, and I'm so very grateful He did.
