Something so pure about a bird in flight..
The shear miracle of the grace of a gliding bird..
To watch the flutter of wings through the air..
I see God's hands in every bird..
My soul is in the sky..
-William Shakespeare
What a thrill to spot a king-fisher on a nearby dock post. They rarely sit still long enough to capture.
As the sun went down, the colors were so beautiful, turning the wood
and grasses a beautiful golden hue.
Grandson and PawPaw waiting...chatting...and snacking on chicken nuggets
We met a couple from Brazil. He's an airline pilot, and they had a great time
talking about airplanes and rockets during the two-hour wait.
After several delays, we finally had lift-off of the Atlas 5 rocket
There's nothing like a night launch,
especially the space shuttle launches.
We miss them here on the Space Coast. When the shuttle took off,
the sky became as bright as full daylight, and the roar shook the dishes in my kitchen cabinets.
But these are still a joy to see. People come from all over the world to see these launches.
I'm thank-FULL to live where people vacation, and to see lots of birds
...and rockets.
Thankful Thursday is my day to focus on and be thankful for all the good things in my life.
What are you thankful for, Gail-Friends?

The photo above was taken while we were waiting for a rocket to launch. The take-off was delayed for two hours, and I enjoyed watching the birds around us. Here are a few shots:
Our viewing spot was directly across from the launch site. |
An osprey, taking advantage of the good fishing on the Indian River. |
A sandpiper checking us out. |
The sandpipers played a game -- landing on the end of the dock, then racing to the other end. |
and grasses a beautiful golden hue.
A great blue heron, fishing along the shore. |
