Sabbath Music - Avinu Malkeinu

This past week, we've spent cleaning up after Hurricane Matthew, and putting our house back in order.  All of this while enjoying having our seven-year old grandson stay with us.  We're calling it Camp Gi-Gi-Paw-Paw.  He's with us because his parents have been working night and day to clean up the mess from the roof and water damage inside their home.  Please continue to pray for them.

This picture above was posted by a local radio station, Z88.3 of Orlando.  My daughter had a vision of this very same thing as we were preparing for the hurricane last week.  She and her little family prayed for G-d to push that storm away.  He did that very thing.  The storm was predicted to hit the Space Coast, but "wobbled" west so we did not get a direct hit. Even though she has suffered a lot of damage, she's been faithful to praise G-d for his provision and protection and for the family, friends and neighbors who have reached out with help.

At the end of our Yom Kippur service this week, we all gave testimonies of how G-d helped and protected us through the storm.  It was a Hallelujah time!  It was also a humbling time, as we all are experiencing first hand the reality of His protection and provision in our lives. We also rejoiced in the provision of Yeshua HaMashiach's blood to cover our sins.  This is the song we sang and danced to that night. (Mashiach ben David by Lenny and Varda)

This song is one we sing each year during the High Holy Days.  It is a reverent prayer for G-d to bless us in the year ahead.   This version is by Barbara Streisand, and even though I disagree with her politics, I love her voice.  Listen and be blessed.

His Strength Is Perfect

Our hurricane shutters - giving G-d the glory for keeping us safe.

We've just gone through Hurricane Matthew, and many are picking up the pieces after this devastating storm.  We were very blessed to have only minor wind damage  and the loss of a few fence boards. We never lost electricity - Praise the L-rd.

The photo at the beginning of this post is the board I used on my window when I went through three hurricanes back to back -- Charlie, Frances, and Jeanne.  Back then, and this week, I prayed for His protection and meditated on Psalm 91.  I just had to praise the L-rd then, and I'm praising Him now, too.

Golden Pond is underneath all of those wind-damaged elephant ears.
It could have been so much worse.  All around our neighborhood we've seen downed trees, roof damage, and water damage, and many have lost power.  Many are working night and day to fix their homes and yards because of wind and rain damage.

My youngest daughter and son-in-love lost power, had roof and water damage and are removing carpets as I write this post.  We have our grandson with us while they work.  Pray for them, please.  They are exhausted.  And please pray for our community and the many others along the East Coast that have suffered damage from Hurricane Matthew.

Have you ever been so weary that you couldn't take another step?  Maybe you feel that way right now.  Take heart, dear one.  You will get through, and He will give you His strength to press on.  All you have to do is ask Him.  Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

If you're bone-tired and spirit weary, I hope this song will minister to you, as it has me, many, many times. His Strength Is Perfect by Michael W. Smith

The song was introduced to me about five years ago.  My oldest daughter was in the hospital emergency room in critical condition.  I hadn't slept in almost twenty-four hours. While her husband arranged for her admittance,  I sat with my head back against the wall, wondering how I'd be able to hold my head up one minute longer.  All I could pray was, "G-d, help me hold on."

A security guard walked into the room and sat a radio on the small desk near my chair.  He turned it on and walked away.  This is the song I heard, and it was as if my Heavenly Father wrapped His arms around me.  As I listened to the words, I felt His strength flow into my tired body and exhausted spirit.  I was renewed, and able to continue for several more hours until my daughter was admitted.

I learned a valuable lesson through that hard experience.  I learned about His enabling strength.  It is great, and it's available when we ask Him.  I'm so thankful He taught me this.  As with every hard thing I've gone through in life, I know something about HIM that no one can ever take away from me.

Please let me know if you need prayer right now for anything.  I'll be blessed to pray for you, Gail-Friends.

Shanah Tovah - Happy 5777

Shanah Tovah - to you, Gail-Friends

Last evening, we held our Rosh Hoshanah service. To learn more about this Jewish holiday, read my previous post HERE.

So much was happening last night, that I forgot to take pictures until almost the end, so I only have a few to share with you.  Below is Rabbi Jem parading theTorah.

During the Torah parade, we sang Ancient Words,
remembering how precious His Word is to us.

At the end of the service, everyone blows the shofar (if they have one).  I grabbed my phone camera, and was able to record just a snippet.  Our synagogue members, David and LaVonne, bought toy shofars for all of the children.  You can hear them on the video:

I hope you can hear this.  I have to laugh, because it sounds like roosters crowing.  Then I realized it is prophetic !
They are saying,
"WAKE UP ! ! !  It's time to obey ADONAI, and walk in His ways."   YES ! !  !

We enjoyed the beautiful, round and fruit-filled challah, made by one of our  members.

After the service, we had a wonderful time of food and fellowship, enjoying apples and honey. These are traditional foods for Rosh Hashanah and
symbolize our prayers for a sweet new year.

Rosh Hashanah lasts for two days, and is followed by the ten days of awe.  During that time, we examine our lives in light of His commandments, and make right any relationships that are strained. We do this in preparation for the next holiday -- Yom Kippur. Since this is a time of introspection, I will not be posting until after October 11.

Rabbi Jem and I pray you have a blessed holiday, and a sweet new year.

Shanah Tovah
