Pray for America - Day 19

This post is part of a 31 day series from the American Prayer Initiative
You can sign up at the link and have the prayers sent to you daily in your
e-mail box.  I encourage you to join us in praying daily for America
up through the general election on November 6, 2012.
The Poor
Suggested Scriptural references ...
For you know the grace of our L-rd Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.  II Corinthians 8:9
Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse. Proverbs 28:27
Religion that is pure and undefiled before G-d, the Father, is this:  to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.  James 1:27

Suggested prayers ...
L-rd, we pray for those who suffer spiritual, relational and/or economic poverty.
You said, L-rd, that the poor would always be with us.  Give us Your wisdom and Your heart for the poor of all kinds – those who are poor in spirit, those who are lonely, and those with material needs.
Teach us Your will and ways to minister effectively to the needs of the least among us.
Show us how to deliver Your help, healing, companionship and comfort to those who struggle with needs.
Bring us to a renewed sense of community in America - neighbor helping neighbor, according to the teachings of Your Word.  Give us “Samaritan” hearts.
Forgive us, L-rd, for leaving the needs of the poor to government.
Help us to discern and respond to the needs of the least of those among us with wisdom and vision.
Help us to discern true need from those who would manipulate.  Give us insight and wisdom.
Help us all to be givers, not takers.

Yes, Father, I agree and  offer these prayers in the name of Yeshua Ha-Mashiach. Amain.
