Israel Trip - Tabgha

After Capernaum, we stopped at Tabgha, which is the site of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes.  Natalie told us we would be able to wade in the water behind the church, so we were excited.

In 1932, archaeologists uncovered the foundations of a 5th-century Byzantine basilica on this site, and the church was rebuilt in 1982.

Yeshua's miracle of the loaves and fishes is recorded in John 6.  The church sits on the shore of the beautiful Sea of Galilee.  Inside the church is a stone which marks the spot where  they believe Yeshua stood.  The mosaic is of a basket and two fish.

Other lovely mosaics in the church.  I love birds, so these were most appealing to me.

Once again, I was fascinated with a beautiful door.  This one had a tassle-type curtain drawn to the side:

These are some of the beautiful stained glass windows:

Yes, we did get to go down to the shore, and what joy to touch those waters.  Some waded, some picked up rocks, and some just splashed.

On the way back up from the water, I noticed these stones.  Made a mental note to make some for my backyard:

I love this sign, which is on the side of the building, near the shore.  A great reminder for all of us, Gail-Friends:

  1. It is my dream to go to Israel with my family. To walk the streets and see the things my Savior saw and walked. What a great blessing!

  3. I believe that desire in your heart comes from HIM. Pray about it and ask Him to make a way for that to happen. I have been twice, and Hashem has provided the funds super-naturally both times.

Blessings to you and your family,
