In the mornings, I sit on my back porch in my wicker rocking chair to commune with the Father. This is what I see...so many little things to be thankful for. The birds, my pond, bird feeders and baths. Because we live in Florida, there is still much green. But I am thankful for the little bit of color we get in December. The gold and red make me happy. Here's a little bit more in our neighborhood:
As I was sitting on the porch one day this week, I was thinking about the beauty all around me and thanking the Father. I started thinking about Painted Buntings. They come here every year and I've usually already seen some by this time. I was thinking maybe I should pray to see some, but then I thought, "That would be such a silly, selfish prayer." At that very moment, a beautiful male Painted Bunting flew on to one of the feeders. Isn't he glorious?
My heart filled with praise and I remembered that my Father delights in giving me the desires of my heart. Yes, He loves me (and you) like that. Here are a few more things He gave me this week:
A beautiful male cardinal doing a little mixed bathing with the sparrows.
He just makes my heart sing with joy.
We took a little drive out to the Indian River Lagoon this week, and received this blessing:
Black Skimmer Terns
So many blessings!
What are you thankful for this week?

I live in the Pacific NW and we have humming birds yr. round. What type of bird is the beautiful colorful one:) Never seen one before, thanks for the pictures
ReplyDeleteIt is a male painted bunting, and thank you for your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteHumming birds are one of my favorites of G-d's creations - so beautiful and amazing.

Gail...How beautiful! We can only stand in awe when the Lord blesses our heart in ways we are afraid to ask for. We have a few birds that hang around during winter but when spring arrives they will be in abundance. However, I am grateful for the few feathered beauties that stick it out. Found you through Spiritual Sundays. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about how the L-rd blesses us. It's funny, I have always tried to pray about everything like the Bible says. I've even prayed to see certain birds and had that prayer answered. I think that particular bird blessing was His way of showing me that He knows the desire of my heart even before I pray. What a loving, wonderful Heavenly Father He is to us.
DeleteSo glad to meet you, and I hope you'll come back soon.
Blessings,
GG
I popped over for the Grand Social and OH how lovely. The words AND the photos. My senior mom will love those birds. Thank you so much for sharing. :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Kaye, and blessings to you and your mama.
DeleteHappy New Year to you, too

I live in Crawfordville, a little town about 30 miles south of Tallahassee and I too enjoy the actual change of seasons here. Blessed in so many ways aren't we? Happy 2015!
