Wisdom Wednesdays - America's Only Hope

Rabbi Jem spoke to us at our Erev Shabbat service about patriotism.  His passion and love for America touched everyone's heart.  It got me thinking about patriotism and the future of our country.

We've seen a big change over the last almost eight years.  Our president promised "change" and boy has he brought it.  Here are the changes he's brought:

Perversion and disobedience to G-d's laws.  He has championed abortion, homosexuality and same sex marriage. He's held up depraved entertainers as role models for young people.  Ex: Beyonce and Jayzee.

Danger to women and children through his "edict" that trans-genders must be allowed to use the restrooms of their choice.  Since this change, there have been numerous reports of attacks and rapes.

Politically Correct Speech.  Words have been changed to new meanings.  What was formerly thought of as evil is now espoused as good.  Certain words cannot be spoken without reproach or a demand of apology.

Encouraged lawlessness.  By allowing illegal immigration, he has encouraged people to disobey America's laws.

Destruction of the auto industry.  Just look at the city of Detroit, and the local car dealerships that were forced out of business through his policies.

Destruction of business.  Many have had to go out of business because of the changes he has brought.  Ex:  the bakery that was forced out of business because they refused to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding.

Destruction of our  economy.  The current unemployment numbers do not reflect the people who have given up finding jobs.  Employers have had to downsize and / or put people on part-time work due to the requirements for insurance coverage.

Destruction of the medical industry through his Affordable Care Act (which was not affordable and continues to increase in price).  We've seen many doctors go out of business in our area because of the changes he's brought.

Destruction of the insurance industry.   Companies are now finding that they cannot continue to operate under the ACA and have experienced tremendous losses.

Destruction of our military.  He's forced over 200 generals, admirals and senior officers to resign.  The Pentagon said they had lost confidence in their ability to lead.  This due to the president's policy to allow open homosexuality in the military.  He has also reduced our ranks to dangerous levels.

Racism.  Prior to his term, race relations had advanced steadily since the days of Dr Martin Luther King.  Since his election, he has fueled racism with his remarks and his actions.  Instead of attempting to calm riots, he has encouraged them.  He had ample opportunities to lift up his fellow blacks.  He could have started programs to teach young boys to be gentlemen, to get an education, and to be good citizens.  Instead he's done the opposite.

Attacks on America by Muslims.  He has protected them and aided them by refusing to acknowledge that the religion encourages attacks on Christians and Jews.  Before you judge me for the statement, read their holy book.  Be sure to get an older version, not the current one that has been white-washed.

I could go on and on...and on.  Suffice it to say that this president is not a patriot.  He does not love America, and he wants to change it even more. A vote for the current Democrat nominee will bring more of the same type of change.  She is cut from the same cloth - lies, deceit, depravity, lawlessness, and most of all a lack of  fear of the L-rd.  She's not a patriot either.

Proverbs 6 is clear on these things:

 A scoundrel, a vicious man,
lives by crooked speech, winking his eyes,
shuffling his feet, pointing with his fingers. With deceit in his heart,
he is always plotting evil and sowing discord.
Therefore disaster suddenly overcomes him;
unexpectedly, he is broken beyond repair.
There are six things Adonai hates,
seven which he detests:
 a haughty look, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet swift in running to do evil,
 a false witness who lies with every breath,
and him who sows strife among brothers.

In spite of all of this, I am not cast down. I have hope and I encourage you to have it, too.  In my Bible study this week, I read this in Psalm 47: 8-10

God rules the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
The leaders of the people gather together,
the people of the God of Avraham;
for the rulers of the earth belong to God,
who is exalted on high.

We don't always know why G-d allows things to happen.  But in the case of America, I know we're reaping what we've sown.  As a country, we have turned out backs on Him and His laws.  The Ten Commandments used to be posted on the walls of America's school rooms and on the walls of courthouses, too.  Now, those holy, preserving words have been rejected and removed one by one.

This verse is often quoted, but mostly misunderstood:

If my people, who bear My Name,
will humble themselves,
pray,
seek my face,
and turn from their evil ways,
I will hear from heaven,
forgive their sin
and heal their land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14)

Our only hope as individuals, and as a country, is to repent of our sin, accept ADONAI through Yeshua the Messiah, and return to obeying His laws.  This includes observing Torah, His Sabbath and His Appointed Times. This is my prayer for the future of America.
